Chicago: part II

After walking around the old town, we started to feel quite hungry. So we headed to the Jake Melnicks Corner Tap, who claims to be the King of chicken wings in Chicago. Their buffalo chicken wings were quite tasty although not as good as the ones we once tried in Buffalo, still Chicago is a much nicer city than Buffalo so it all evens out in the end.
Then we returned to downtown walking along Michigan Ave. Having a chance to see for the second time the magnificent buildings.

We arrived at the Millennium Park where there is a giant sculpture shaped as a gigantic bean. It is curious how such a simple thing allows for so much entertainment. We found it to be an sculpture that interacts very well with its surroundings by reflecting and distorting Chicago's skylight.

To end the afternoon, we visited a couple of famous movie locations: Union Station, where the shootout sequence of The Untouchables took place,

and then the Administration Building where The Blues Brothers ended up their crazy car pursuit.

We then reached the hotel just in time to avoid a pretty heavy strom, to confirm that the lugagge had still not arrieved : (
We didn't want to leave Chicago without tasting their main dish: the "Chicago-style hot dog". This is a Polish original recipe that contains: beef sausage, chopped onion, pickled cucumber, sliced tomato, seed bread and mustard. As you may have noticed there is no ketchup in this hot dog, as apparently this ingredient is very frowned upon around this area.

Portillo's is considered the one of the best places in town to have a proper Chicago hot dog, so we had to check it out: it really is quite good.
With our stomachs full, we attempted to visit the Navy Pier but this time another heavy storm caught us in te streets, so couldn't spend too much time there and we taxied our way back to the hotel.

Our suitcase arrived to our hotel at 10pm, unfortunately it was too late to go to the swimmgpool, so we just call it a night and prepare for our first driving journey the following day.
