We have just completed our first 24 hours in Chicago, one of the largest cities in USA and starting point of Route 66 from the east side.
Chicago is revealing itself as quite a nice city, massive but manageable, with beautiful buildings from the last couple of centuries and lots of green space.
Considering this, our first stop was Macy's department store, but in this case it was out of necessity as Iberia had "kindly" left one of our suitcases in Madrid, and Luci was stuck with the sweatsuit we wore for the whole trip. The suitcase is supposed to arrive today. We are still waiting...
Still, after sorting out the logistics, it was time for a stroll around the city, getting a first glimpse of the lake and downtown.
After a while, completelly knackered we had a quick supper at a bakery next to the hotel and went to bed at 21.30h local time, which translates to 04:30 for our bodies. Not bad : )
After an irregular nights sleepd caused by jet lag, and breakfast at Dunkin' Donuts, we set out to explore Chicago in full daylight. One of the mos striking things we've found is that many streets and parks are lined with fully blossomed tulips, adding a nice colour touch to the concrete and glass around us.
The weather was quite nice today, mild temperature although ocasional strong winds (they don't call Chicago the Windy City lightly). We walked all along the Magnificent Mile, Chicago's liveliest street to finally arrive to the John Hancock building, the second tallest one in Chicago, where we were able to enjoy fantastic views from floor 96!
That's it for now. It's quite tricky to post from a mobile phone, so there'll be more updates soon.
It's time for dinner!
Keep em coming!
